[Modsecurity] Please more N00B advice

I want to block IP from "50.68.232.72.reverse.layeredtech.com
I would be happy with "SecFilterSelective REMOTE_ADDR 50\.68\.232\.72"
in badips.conf
if it worked
I would also be happy blocking layeredtech.com
where should I put it, what should it say, and where should I have 
looked to find the answer?
