I completely disagree. I have spent hours reading various forums and the
whois.sc survey bot has rubbed many server admins the wrong way. They claim
they have accurate information about your server but in fact, 99% of what
they report is completely wrong. Why would I want such a pest visiting my
servers, stealing my bandwidth, reporting the increase and decrease of the
sites added and deleted from my servers on a monthly basis when all this
information is completely wrong? If they were actually a benefit to me, I
would say great but they are not.
The usefulness of whois.sc is your own personal opinion. I think if you
spent some time reading various forums you will see they are of zero benefit
to people and they are more of a pest than anything.

Hang on a sec guys.
Whois.sc is very useful, and not a security or (real) privacy threat of any
kind *IMHO*. I use it a lot. Before I "got to know it" I wondered that on
earth it was all about, but now I use it daily to check on domains either on
our servers or elsewhere. Please note the *IMHO*. Maybe I missed something?
Either way, we really need the technology people have been talking about
that would allow users to add their own rules or modify existing rules while
still being able to quickly download and implement new rules without having
to re-edit everything each time :-)
I wish I was able/had the time to look into this myself.
Faris.
